The Academic Network Eastern Europe (akno e.V.) is seeking an experienced Project Manager, starting December 1, 2026, to develop sustainable (exile) structures within the Russian school and academic context. The position predominantly includes organisational, event and documentation management.
The position is based in Berlin and initially comprises 65% employment (26 hours per week). Partial remote work is possible. Employment can be offered either as a fixed-term contract (in accordance with TVöD 10) or, by agreement, on a comparable freelance basis.

Important

Due to the project-based nature of the position and the limited funding period, the contract is initially limited to the end of May/November 2027, with a probationary period of three months. An increase in working hours, as well as an extension of the contract, is intended and will depend on mutual agreement and on further funding commitments from donors.
Please also note that akno e.V. has been listed as an “undesirable organisation” in Russia
since November 2023.

Your responsibilities will include:

Comprehensive planning, organisation, implementation, and documentation of various projects and funding programmes in the school and academic sectors. This includes cooperation, network development, and maintaining relationships with the Russian exile community and other relevant stakeholders.

Your profile:

• Native-level proficiency in Russian
• Proficiency in German OR English at C1+ level
• At least four years of practical experience in project and organisational management (please list relevant references separately in your application)
• Relevant professional qualifications or an appropriate university degree is an asset
• Extensive experience, networks, and knowledge within the Russian education sector (please list relevant references separately)
• Experience in the planning and coordination of media production, particularly podcasts and videos, would be an advantage
• High motivation and resilience, combined with an independent and self-directed working style, particularly in the context of a young organisation that is still developing its structures

We look forward to hearing from you and to welcoming someone who is interested in working in a small, international, and collegial team.

Please send your application documents (motivation letter and CV) by 8 November 2026 in one single PDF file to: bewerbung@science-at-risk.org
