The Academic Network Eastern Europe (akno e.V.) is looking for a Project Coordinator, starting 1 December 2026, to help build sustainable exile structures in the Belarusian academic context. Due to the project-based nature of the position and the limited funding period, the contract is initially fixed term until the end of 2027. Long-term employment is intended and depends on mutual agreement as well as on funding commitments from donors for the 2027 calendar year.

Important note:

Please note that since November 2023, akno e.V. has been designated an “undesirable organisation”
in Russia.

Responsibilities:

We are looking for a new member of our Belarus team to implement externally funded programmes supporting Belarusian scholars in exile and at risk. Together with your colleagues, you will:

• coordinate support programmes for scholars: emergency assistance, events, publications, conferences and training sessions;
• review applications and liaise with grantees, partners and institutions;
• handle contracts and the administrative side of grants, including reporting to funders;
• develop new support formats as needs or budgets change.
Your profile:
• Completed university degree
• Native-level proficiency in Belarusian/Russian
• German OR English at C1 level or higher
• Experience in research, teaching and/or administration in the European academic landscape, as well as a sound understanding of current developments in the humanities and social sciences
• Networks in and knowledge of the Belarusian education sector are an advantage
• High motivation and resilience, combined with an independent and self-directed way of
working

We offer:

• A position of responsibility with scope to shape your own work
• Work in a committed, international team at a non-governmental organisation focusing on Belarus, Ukraine and Russia
• Flexible working hours with the option to work partly from home
• Remuneration based on TVöD 10 (German public-sector pay scale) for a 50% position.

Employment may be on a fixed-term basis (based on TVöD 10) or, by agreement, on a comparable freelance basis.

Don’t meet every single requirement? What matters most to us is your motivation, your organisational skills and your willingness to take on responsibility.

Please send your application documents (cover letter and CV) by 8 November 2026 as a single PDF file
