Not an Imposter: Understanding and Overcoming Imposter Syndrome in Academia
Do you ever feel that your achievements are due to luck rather than your own skills and hard work? Do you worry that others overestimate your abilities and that sooner or later you will be „found out“?
If this sounds familiar, you are not alone.
Imposter syndrome is a common experience in academia, where competition, uncertainty, constant evaluation, and comparison can shape the way we see ourselves and our accomplishments.
Join us for a shared discussion, reflective exercises, and an open space to exchange experiences. Together, we will explore what makes imposter syndrome so common in academic environments and develop strategies for building a stronger professional identity and greater confidence.
Our goal is not only to better understand the mechanisms behind imposter syndrome, but also to reflect on how social and institutional structures influence self-perception. By the end of the workshop, participants will leave with a more supportive understanding of their own journey and practical tools to recognize and build on their strengths and achievements.
We are delighted to welcome Dr. Anastasia Ushakova as our expert facilitator.
