With our work at KURVE Wustrow, we help to ensure that concern about armed conflicts,
ecological destruction and social injustice can be translated into considered, nonviolent action. We deploy peace workers as part of the Civil Peace Service (CPS) and work together with partner organisations in the Balkans, the Middle East, in Sudan, Ukraine and in South and South East Asia. We also focus on seminars on civil, nonviolent conflict resolution in Germany and abroad, engage against nuclear power and support climate and resource protection.
For our CPS programme „Dealing with the past, conflict transformation and psychosocial support – strengthening civil society’s capacity to act“ together with our partner organisation Eastern Ukrainian Center for Civic Initiatives (EUCCI) we are looking for an International Peace Worker (f/m/d) in Kyiv/Ukraine (38,5 hours/week)
These are your tasks
As an integrated International Peace Worker you will support our partner organisation Eastern Ukrainian Center for Civic Initiatives in the documentation, processing and publication of human rights violations and dealing with the country’s recent past in the context of the Russian war of aggression against Ukraine
• Planning, implementing and monitoring the CPS project together with a local peace
worker and partners. Support of the partner organisation’s team and, if required,
participation in or support of organisation-related processes in the programme
development or organisational development
• Support for the further development of the existing practice of documenting and
analysing human rights violations and the preparation of data for conflict-sensitive
public use
• Developing concepts and projects for dealing with the recent past, particularly regarding
conflict-sensitive remembrance culture, public presentations of human rights violations
in Ukraine and societal encounter and debate
• Ensuring the proper application of funds and reporting as well as regular communication
with the ZFD country coordinator and the KURVE Wustrow main office. Close
cooperation with the regional coordinator on ongoing conflict and security analysis
• Networking and public relations activities regarding state actors, civil society actors and
survivors in the field of human rights violations
• Support in the creation of media products based on cases of human rights violations
(books, articles, blogposts, documentaries). Support for the organisation and
implementation of campaigns and exhibitions.
• Supporting the networking and public relation activities of KURVE Wustrow in
Germany if applicable
Skills you have
• University or a similar degree in peace and conflict studies, political and social sciences,
regional studies, international social work or another relevant field
• Relevant qualification and/ or sound knowledge and experience in the field of civil,
nonviolent conflict transformation
• Several years of practical work experience with NGOs, in intercultural teams and/or
abroad. Work experience in the Ukrainian NGO sector and knowledge of the context
would be of great advantage
• Professional command of English and good knowledge of Ukrainian or Russian
• Intercultural competence and the ability to work independently as well as in a dynamic
local team
• The ability to self-reflect and a high degree of learning and adaptability
• Personal responsibility, strong planning and implementation skills, the ability to deal with
complex situations and tolerance towards unclear situations
• Knowledge of and experience in (post) war societies
• Willingness to travel to areas under Ukrainian control (according to current security
monitoring / only to certain oblasts in western and central Ukraine)
• Experience in handling digital and social media and websites is an advantage

• Participation in qualification and further training measures, regular supervision and, if
necessary, participation in a corresponding language course

daily work and cooperation at eye level
• A full-time contract in accordance with the Development Workers Act (for EU citizens, EEA
plus Switzerland ) until December 2028. Please note: The conditions of the German law for
development aid workers precludes the application and deployment of citizens of the
deployment countries.
