Between August and October 2020, Belarus experienced the largest political mobilization in its modern history: hundreds of thousands of citizens took to the streets to protest against electoral fraud and state violence. These events drew significant attention from both Belarusian and international scholars, sparking a new wave of research across sociology, political science, history, anthropology, and related disciplines.

What questions are researchers continue to explore about the events of 2020 today? What kinds of empirical material do they use? Which aspects of the “Belarusian revolution” remain most debated or contested within academic interpretations? And conversely, what themes or voices do not come to the attention of academics? We will discuss these and other questions during the discussion in the context of modern research.
