🟩 AUGUST 21–31, BERLIN: CHANCE International is hosting the training “Rewind: LARPing Past for the Future”. The project is funded by the Remembrance, Responsibility and Future (EVZ) Foundation and the Federal Foreign Office. 🟩

We invite 18–35 y.o. participants from Germany, Ukraine, and Moldova who work on the “Culture of Remembrance” topic.

➡️ LARP stands for “Live Action Role Play”, or “Rollenspiel”. This term refers to a wide range of activities — even children’s attempts to try on parenting roles, or simulations used in medical universities to practice for operations.

Here’s what Ivan, the author of the training and one of the facilitators who will guide you through learning LARP as a method, says about the project:

“I’ve been playing, writing, and organising LARPs for the last 15 years. I think it’s one of the most efficient educational tools available at the moment.

I can remember every role I’ve played, every setting. A representative of the Economical and Social committee from Burkina Faso, a brain cell in Claude Monet’s head, a nameless peasant in the utopian Helianthus world, to name a few. Each of them was a unique experience that I lived through intellectually, emotionally and physically. All those short lives, their skills, knowledge and views, are integrated in my experience.

Educators, trainers, teachers and activists still need to find new creative ways to work with the Culture of Remembrance. I believe that LARP can be a solution, and I invite you to come to our training at Teufelssee. We will play four scenarios with different settings and mechanics and learn LARPs theory; as mentors we’ll help you write LARP scenarios for your work and test them with other participants. See you at Teufelssee!”
