The European Platform for Democratic Elections (EPDE) is looking for a motivated social media and content manager.

Are you the kind of person that scans Twitter for live updates on election night? Do you flip between different media sources in different languages to get the full picture of an event? Are you a visual person who gets excited about a well-made infographic? If you answered yes to any or all the above, then please apply!

The EPDE is a network of 16 non-partisan domestic citizen election observation organisations who observe elections in their countries and issue recommendations for electoral reforms. EPDE’s focus region is the EU’s Eastern neighborhood including the Eastern Partnership countries and the Russian Federation, therefore fluent English and good knowledge of Russian are a must!

The overall goal of the EPDE is to improve electoral processes in its focus region and to increase the resilience of democratic institutions from authoritarian influence. The aim of the EPDE’s communication and advocacy efforts is therefore not only to increase the visibility of our work, but to develop long-term cooperation with other allies, key stakeholders, and decision makers.

The responsibilities include:
• Development of social media strategy in tandem with EPDE’s overall communication strategy;
• Regular management of website and social media (Facebook, Twitter, Telegram);
• Design of visual content for website, newsletter, and social media;
• Online community building, including engaging allies, key media, stakeholders.
Target audiences include:
• National and EU level decisionmakers
• Expert community
• International journalists and media networks
• Active citizens engaged in election monitoring or working on similar relevant issues

Requirements for this position:
• Language competencies: fluent English, good knowledge of Russian, other European languages beneficial;
• Comfortable using social media platforms (Telegram, Facebook, Twitter);
• Previous professional experience of working in communication or PR;
• Good knowledge of political developments in the EU and the EU’s Eastern Neighborhood.

Additional qualities:
• Experience using Website Content Management Systems (such as Contao);
• Experience in photo, video or podcast editing.

This position is to be filled for a start on 6 September 2022 and initial duration is foreseen until the end of December 2022 with the possibility of an extension. This is a part-time remote work-from-home position. The conditions for this position shall be regulated by a service contract.

Since 2019, the European Exchange furthermore implements the Initiative Quorum, which seeks to strengthen the participation of Russian speaking citizens in Germany’s political processes.
